I won’t shape myself
Neither will the world shape me
Master, make me
Porter, mold
I will remain in your hands, Master Porter
I will remain in your hands, Master Porter
I have been humming this song and searching for the original music but yet to find it. Please share with me if you have a link.
Reflecting on training on influencing and negotiations that I started taking at work this week makes me realize how we must jealously protect our positions based on God’s word and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Due to the political context in the industry and location where I work, my job is gradually shifting to being more of a campaigner and influencer. To effectively campaign and influence change, you must be bold in speaking out. You must take a position and stand in solidarity with whatever cause you are fighting.
And so, workday becomes negotiation, knowingly or not – negotiating boundaries, contracts, relationships to get people to buy into your concept, gain support and allies – internally and externally just to get your message out.
I get to ask myself very often, Ryta, who is holding up the mirror that you are reflecting?
We always have choices – to take a position and manipulate our way through or go the Proverbs 3:5-6 route – to trust the Lord, lean on Him, and go in His steer.
We will always have the choice – to lobby a matter until it cracks open or wait on the Lord in the place of intercession and pick a leaf from how Jesus taught us to pray …thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Who is holding up your mirror you are reflecting?
What is pulling the fine threads of your soul?
Attitudes from people? Past experiences? Vibes and trends from society? Economic situation? Changing political landscape? Difficult relationships?
A mirror will always be held up for us to look and reflect, and we have the choice either to look with unveiled faces at the mirror of God’s word and be progressively transformed into His image and move from glory to glory by the leading of the Spirit of God or look at the alternative mirror being held up for us.
May I ask you, who is holding up the mirror that you are reflecting? I choose to pick my cue from 2 Corinthians 3:18.
