In the last two weeks, each time I step out of the house, I find myself humming this rhyme I’ve known probably as long as I could say my own name:
All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
All things bright and wonderful
The Lord God made them all
Spring is in full bloom all around me, bursting with colour and life. Flowers have budded: tulips, daffodils, cherry blossoms, flowering dogwood, crabapple trees and more splashing the air with beautiful hues and fragrances.
I did not pay much attention to the cherry blossom tree right outside my bedroom window until two weeks ago, because my windows had been literally shut, even sealed, for the last five months. Thankfully, I can finally roll up the curtains and open the window not only to take in the fresh air but also to enjoy the sight and fragrance of the cherry blossoms.
What amazes me about spring is how accurately plants spring back to life after shedding their leaves in autumn and hibernating all winter. It’s as if some marvelous alarm sounds in their ears and, no matter how long they’ve lain dormant, when spring calls, they awaken in full regalia and vibe!
I have such awe for people who say there is no God. If the grand synchrony of spring doesn’t convince you, you must truly be superhuman!
I hope you can take a moment to drink in and enjoy the vibrant life that spring brings around you as you go into a new week!
