New Wines

Can you make do with fresh wine in your marriage and courtship?

As the year wound down, so have most wines in homes run down. Some of us need an outright change of wineskin to accommodate the new wines, some just need to topple up the wine bottle to come up to a better gauge while some need to pour in fresh wines because the one currently available have become stale.

I always look forward to December New Wines series because it offers a fresh perspective in dealing with relationship matters, both for singles and married people.

December is always set aside to address key issues that affect our relationships in the church that I attend.

We started 2018 edition of New Wines series last Sunday and I learned so much and decided to share with you some of the wisdom nuggets that I took away and I feel you could glean from it.

#Nugget 1 – Do not wake up love until you are ready for it.

The bottom line of the wisdom tips that was directed at singles at all categories is; ‘do not wake up love prematurely’.

I am sure some married people wish they knew this truth while they were still teenagers and young adults.

I am of the opinion that one of the major root causes of the unspoken challenges that couples grapple with came from waking up love before they were ready for the responsibilities that go with falling in love while they were growing up.

Apart from the more salient matter of getting involved with sex before marriage which apparently do not leave people the same, the more subtle necking, kissing and light flirts with probably more than one guy or babe in one dating relationship or the other over the years chip away something precious that would have best been reserved for one’s spouse.

I published a post a while ago on growing up too fast. I don’t mean biological growth, I mean dabbling into issues or opening up the deep fountain within that is meant for later years.

I am sure most adults who went down that slippery slope would have much to tell singles of the struggle they went through or maybe still going through in dealing with the effect waking up love too early have on them.

Thank God for redemption that we can latch on freely for wholesome restoration.

#Nugget 2 – Two are better than one

This was the baseline nugget for married people on Sunday. In the ultimate wisdom of God, He made major parts of our bodies in pair. I guess that is to serve as an everlasting memorial to humans to typify that two are better than one. Married people who do not recognize the truth shortchange themselves.

We are stronger together and a threefold cord is not easily broken.

Well, these were the major take away for me and I look forward to yet another fresh wine next week Sunday.
